2. Bundesliga: Greuther Fürth beats Regensburg in the catch-up game and underpins promotion ambitions

SpVgg Greuther Fürth keeps pace with the competition in the battle for promotion. The shamrocks prevailed in the catch-up game of the 25th matchday at Jahn Regensburg 2-1 (1-0) and moved past Holstein Kiel to the relegation place.

The Fürth (3rd place / + 18 goals) are now with 46 points tied with Kiel (4./+16) and Hamburger SV (2./+21). Kiel, however, still has one game to go.

Branimir Hrgota (13th, 64th) scored the goals of the Franks, Jann George (67th) scored for Regensburg to the final score.

Regensburg only returned to team training on Saturday after a 14-day quarantine, and the training deficit was evident from the first minute on the field. Jahn did not know how to defend himself against the constant pressure from Fürth and suffered many simple ball losses. Hrgota’s opening goal came as a logical consequence.

After the tour, Fürth did not give up. Havard Nielsen (18th) headed free in front of goal and Timothy Tillman (20th) missed further opportunities.

2. Bundesliga: The table

In the 77th minute, Hrgota had the third and decisive goal on his feet, but the Lupfer over keeper Alexander Meyer did not find the way into the goal.
