Bad news for 1. FC Köln and defense chief Sebastiaan Bornauw: As the Bundesliga team announced on Thursday, the operation on the Belgian’s back planned for Wednesday could not be carried out.
“Because of Bornauw’s allergic reaction to the anesthesia”, the operation was postponed and will now be “made up for in the next few days”.
The 21-year-old had recently complained of back pain and missed several games. During examinations a bony change in the spine was diagnosed, which should have been removed with a “minimally invasive procedure by a specialist in Belgium”.
Cologne’s sports director Horst Heldt had previously forecast that Bornauw would be “back on the training ground in seven to ten days after the operation.” Bornauw last played for FC on January 24th at 3-0 at TSG Hoffenheim and has been missing since then.
